Life in the NorthWest, a return to seasons , fireside reading and sketching, extraordinary opportunities for both artistic growth and community service, explain the artist's move to the 'Mainland' , and Gig Harbor Washington in particular, after 25 years in Hawaii.

Not a native to tropical climates, Carol Ann was born and raised on the East Coast and received her BFA in Printmaking from Syracuse University.

Collected by patrons all over the world, the artist continues to explore new mediums and expand her broad repertiore of Graphic Arts.

Carol Ann Johnson ( formerly Ketchledge) expresses herself in printmaking, using her 200 year old etching press, as well as in pastel, acrylic paintings, watercolor, colored pencil, and hand dyed silks, which are done as paintings, garments, yardage, and jewelry.

Natural images, realistic landscape, fine still life, and portraiture are her primary subjects.

In her studio and home setting the artist brings together the experience of over 30 years as a professional Graphic Artist in Hawaii and Washington.

Every September the artist welcomes you to her studio during Open Studio Tour- one of the finest artist groups in the Gig Harbor Area.

In addition to her Fine Arts, Carol Ann Johnson is a WebDesigner and computer graphics creator as well as a teacher of computer graphics.

She is also a well published, in print, childrens book illustrator for Barnaby Books, which she helped establish in '81.

As her life and passion for Art demonstrates, the artist lives by her statement, " To see each day as an adventure, to discover and explore each creative opportunity, is to be truly and joyfully alive. "
